Hello again everyone.
As those in the family are well aware, Uncle Jimmy died February 12, 2013 in Calhoun County, Illinois. A sad day for the whole family and his many friends. The youngest of the four children of Charles and Muriel Macauley, Jimmy lived life with gusto. He made everyone smile — even strangers. If you didn’t like him or he didn’t like you, you were probably an axxhole. And, surprisingly, there were very few of either kind in his life.
On the other hand, I’ve run into many an axxhole in my life. Proof positive that Jimmy was a better man than I. Enough about that.
Jimmy was laid to rest with full military honors (Air Force) in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Brussels, Illinois, ten yards or so from the resting place of Charles and Muriel. It was cold and windy, but the sun shone brightly, providing comfort to those in attendance. The Brussels American Legion fired a 21 gun salute in Jimmy’s honor. He may not have served on the front lines in any war, but Jimmy always had your back in life — and I always admired him for it.
The world is a better place, thanks to Jimmy. We will all miss him and his smiles, his hugs and his needling ways. Next time you have a drink, raise your glass in a toast to Uncle Jimmy! May he rest in peace in the comfort of the Lord.
Thanks for reading and please stay tuned.
