Hello again everyone.
I learned earlier today that some guy in Apple Valley, California believes the world is not round — but instead is flat. Yes, that’s what I though when I first read about this.
The man’s name is Mike Hughes. He is 61 years old and drives a limousine for a living. His present goal in life is to prove for all of the rest of us who think he is nuts (on account of his flat earth belief) — that he not.
His plan is to build a steam powered space ship that will take him far enough above the flat earth to photograph the fact of its flatness. His first attempt at space flight is scheduled for the Saturday after Thanksgiving in the middle of the Mojave Desert. In this first of what he hopes is many flights, he plans to fly one mile at 500 miles per hour without killing himself. (Good luck with that.)
I don’t know where he found the money to do this, but it does suggest that even if this guy is not very smart, he is resourceful.
I’m wondering … Danny … what do you think about starting a rocket club at Mizzou? I heard you are taking a rocket propulsion class this semester! You could hire this guy as a consultant, assuming, of course, he survives this Saturday’s flight.
All I can say is ouch! And Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks for reading and stay tuned.
